What is Community Supported Agriculture?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is an association between farmer and CSA member for the mutual benefit of both.  The CSA model allows for small family farms, like Parker Produce, to provide produce directly to the consumer.  By purchasing a CSA share from Parker Produce prior to the growing season, the CSA member receives weekly produce during the growing season (generally from June until the beginning of October).  We offer pickup locations in Bangor, Winterport and Newport.  Our shareholders first choose their share size and submit their payment along with the CSA Agreement Form.

Full Share - $525

A full share will provide enough fresh produce for a family of 4-5 people on a weekly basis.  Near the end of the season you will notice that the volume of food is higher.  This is to provide for an 'extended harvest' to allow for the consumption of local food after the growing season has ended.  We will provide tips for storage.

Half Share - $375

An half share is the same as a full (see above) except with a more moderate amount of produce for 2-3 people.  Our experience has shown this to be an ideal choice for couples with no children or with very young children.  This share is also appropriate for individuals who are vegetarian or vegan.

Family Fun at the Farm Share

For an additional $50, full and half share members can purchase the family fun at the farm package.  This package offers an exciting chance to experience the farm first-hand.  This share add-on will provide a Pumpkin Patch Hay Ride in the fall, Autumn Decorations such as Sunflowers, Corn Stalks and Painted Corn, pumpkins and a certificate for a cut-your-own Christmas Tree from the Burgess Tree Farm (our headquarters).  Simply check the appropriate box on the share agreement.

Holiday Harvest Shares

We are pleased to offer the Holiday Harvest Share.  This is a perfect way for you and your family to enjoy wonderful, healthy, pesticide and synthetic chemical free, local produce for the holiday season.  We provide pickup right before the holiday.  The holiday harvest shares are $75 each or  $140 for both Thanksgiving and December shares.  Simply check the appropriate box on the share agreement.
